Food Pantry

Positions: Lead and Volunteers

Time Requirement: 1-2 Hours Per Week

Travel Required: No

Lead and Volunteer

Recruit volunteers
Announce about:
- Grocery pickup
- Bag preparation
- Service time
Prepare around 20 bags on Saturday right before the actual service time
Announce for the service time to nearby food pantry (2704 W North Ave, Chicago, IL 60647)

Facility prep work
- Put out the sign in front of the side door
- Clear out the stage area
- Assign a sharing table
- Assign a registration table
- Assign registration person and identify which device would be used for registration
- Assign a welcome person
- Assign 2-3 people which help handing out the bags and manage the flow
- Bring the water cooler to the stage area
- Prepare light meal (ex: soup or sandwiches and cookies and chips)

Print registration papers in English and Spanish. You can find them on google drive
Print schedule of the coming times
Make sure that each person does the following:
- Gets greeted
- Register or Check-in
- Takes a schedule of the coming times
- Takes only one bag per registered person
- Knows that they can help themselves with the donated clothes
- Help themselves with light meal

Update the outdoor sign to reflect the next food pantry date and put it back behind the fence
Clean and restore the stage area back to normal
Lock the food pantry door and return the key in the kitchen
Inventory the pantry’s content
